Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.

Welcome to Rice & Sticks – A blog with recipes, traveling tips, restaurant reviews and everything beyond. Each recipe will be followed by photos, and clear directions.

My name is Simon, a guy with a passion for asian cooking, traveling, jazz and rock ‘n roll. I love eating my way through Asia with a pair of chopsticks and a camera. Nothing is more enriching to life than experiencing new food, cultures and meeting interesting people. It all started about a decade ago when I got my hands on a non stick wok, but the dream of launching a blog occurred during a trip to Hong Kong in 2007.

At the end of 2012 I received private culinary classes in royal thai cuisine at the Blue Elephant restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand. I believe cooking is a learning process that never end. Like “mam” my culinary teacher taught me, It’s all about putting our hearts into what we do. Good food have to be simple, quick and made from scratch. My purpose is to provide simple, quick and delicious asian recipes everyone can follow. All recipes provided are working and tested before publishing.

When I’m not out traveling, I usually make blog content, trying a new restaurant, spending time with friends, family and my lovely girlfriend.
