Hotel cape sienna Kamala Beach Phuket

 Kamala beach

Whenever I end up visiting Thailand, I’m always amazed by the people’s friendliness and hospitality. On my second trip to the land of smiles I felt a craving for a relaxing alternative to the stressful city of Bangkok. Being a small remote location close to the rainforest and the Andaman sea, Kamala is a perfect place for beach strolling and peaceful luxury life.

As I can be quite picky about hotels, I don’t mind paying a little more for some extra comfort and luxury. After reading countless recommendations around the internet, everyone in the family mutually agreed upon visiting Cape Sienna.

Sea view studio room

Sea view studio apartment/room.

In the lobby a sweet receptionist met us with a smile and a charming “sawadee krup”. Check-in went painlessly fast and in a matter of time we could finally access our rooms. My parents paid extra money for a upgrade, so their room had a balcony with a jacuzzi. Due to my need for personal space, we ordered a additional regular sea view studio room. All the rooms had a minimalist luxury style, and everything looked chic, modern and brand new.

The hotel is not of the cheapest kind, so backpackers may take their business elsewhere. Wealthy people can spoil themselves by renting a private pool villa, and us average joes may sleep comfortably in a more cost effective room.

Beautiful over the poolside bar

A beautiful view over the poolside bar & restaurant.

Even if street food prepared in a local environment is often the best, it can be just as exciting checking out fine dining restaurants. Cape sienna got 2 restaurants of fairly high standard. Al though, yours truly only tried one of them.

The poolside bar & restaurant offer a eclectic selection of mediterranean food, sandwiches/burgers, salads and Thai food. On Thursdays the chefs put together a thai buffet with a big selection of regional thai dishes ranging from Pad Nuea Nam man hoy (beef with oyster sauce), som tam and gai satay to a live wok station serving fried noodles al fresco.

Plum restaurant

Plum restaurant Is a fine dining alternative located below the vanilla sky bar & lounge. Are you a couple looking for a romantic mediterranean dining experience? Then this is the place for you.  Plum is open from 6 pm – 11.30 pm.

 Vanilla sky bar & lounge

A view over the Andaman sea from Vanilla sky bar & lounge.

Vanilla sky bar & lounge Is located on the roof top providing a breathtaking view over the Andaman sea. For those interested, a game of snooker can be played on the third floor. The chambre separe may be booked in advance for those requiring full privacy on a special occasion. Vanilla sky bar & lounge is open from 5 pm – 12 am.

Final verdict

A stay at Cape sienna is truly worth it. I can do nothing but showing deep appreciation for the outstanding work done by the hotel staff. The concierge did a close to flawless job, cleaning ladies were always smiling and restaurant staff provided top notch service. Definitely a hotel worth visiting again.

Cape sienna claim to be a adult hotel which do not allow children under 12 years of age. But unfortunately, it seems like this rule did not apply to everyone. The first morning after arriving we saw clearly underaged kids playing by the pool bar.
